Saturday Morning Session Sneak Peeks! {Schertz Family Photographer}

We were supposed to have nasty weather this weekend, or at least that’s what Mr. Weatherman said anyway. Nasty as in rain & chilly temps in the low 50s which might sound downright tropical to some of you right now but for those of us from South Texas whose blood has turned thin, that’s Brrrrrrrrrrrr weather to us! Of COURSE this was the weekend of my annual holiday mini-sessions so I figured clients wouldn’t want to be out in the chilly rain any more than I would so I decided to be pro-active and reschedule the sessions to next weekend all with the exception of one that I’d had scheduled with the Boney family for quite a while on saturday morning. It was a tiny bit chilly that morning but otherwise glorious as you’ll see in the pics so I’m SO happy we decided to go forward with the session. I got such a kick out of watching their adorable 19 month old son romp & roam around the property, picking up sticks & rocks, jamming out to tunes on Daddy’s phone and exploring on railroad tracks for the very first time. It brought me back in time to the days I had toddler boys obsessed with all things train related, roaming around my house with their Thomas the Tank Engine trains clutched in their little fists but I digress………thank you Boney family for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family! Hope you’ve had a great week and are looking forward to an awesome weekend. It was our 21st wedding anniversary yesterday and although the hubby was in the air working and I was firmly on the ground, we have some fun plans to attend the Texas WINGS fundraiser gala with friends this weekend. Not only is it a wonderful charity to support (they provide comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured women in Central and South Texas) it is a fun evening and great excuse to get dressed up & go out. This year I have donated a photo session & prints for their silent auction as my way of giving just a bit more to the cause and I can’t wait to meet up with the auction winner & provide some pretty photography for them!

You know I can’t blog without posting some pics so here is the Harvey family. Mom found me online and after chatting we decided to meet up on a balmy sunday evening in Gruene along with what I’m pretty sure was the entire county! We didn’t know there was a live concert going on at the Gruene Dance Hall so the little town was FULL of people but we still found plenty of places to shoot and I think a good time was had by all. Dad wasn’t able to come along because he was called into work but I’m happy they still came to the shoot anyway, talk about a BEAUTIFUL family!

Even though it’s early Sept, it’s not too early to book your holiday or senior session……the holidays will be here before we know it! Weekends are already beginning to fill up so if you’re only able to shoot on the weekends then you might want to think about going ahead and securing your date & time now. Don’t forget that seniors who book their session before Sept. 30 will get 50 free 411 cards! I’ll be posting some images from my recent boudior sessions soon but in the meantime, thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!

Just catching up on some spring sessions I haven’t posted yet! We met at the Japanese Tea Gardens for an evening of hiking, fun & exploring all over the park and then met at my studio for part 2 a few days later, a 2nd birthday celebration!

Sneak Peek for the Remey Family!

Whew! It’s been a busy month so far here at Brown-Eyed Girl!! I’ve been busy with senior sessions, bluebonnet sessions, 1 yr. little girl portraits, all sorts of yummy goodness and I’m warning you, I’m going to be on a posting frenzy here soon. Heck, I haven’t even blogged photos from our cruise back in February for the love of pete so I’m far behind! Anyway, I have a few minutes before I’m out the door to head to the studio for a senior session so I wanted to blog some sneak peek pics for the Remey family. I took some family portraits for them last year and they wanted some new ones in the bluebonnets and it’s good we got them because shortly after their session they found out they’ll be moving from Texas. Thank you, Remey Family, for asking me to take your portraits again. It’s always an honor & I’ll sure miss you!

Just a reminder that I’ll be accepting bookings for senior portraits for another month or so and mostly have weekday evening appointments left at this point. The Johnson Family {Schertz Family Photographer}

I know I talk occasionally about my church family at Crosspoint Fellowship and how they great they are and I promise I wouldn’t do that unless I really meant it. We have such a nice diversity of membership there of retirees, military families, young families, students, you name it and the Johnsons are one of those invaluable families to Crosspoint Fellowship. Kasey heads up the Clubhouse which is the birth-kinder aged kids and Johnny helps out with the older kids in the Warehouse. I get to watch their sweet little girl each sunday in the nursery and I just adore her too. A friend of the Johnson’s bought them a photo session with me as thanks for watching their dog and after many months of trying, we were finally able to meet up a few weeks ago on what was shaping up to be a lovely spring day but instead we arrived to New Braunfels to find a chilly breeze. They were troopers as we hiked around the park for a while snapping some shots and thankfully my new studio came in VERY handy on a chilly day such as this. We drove the short mile there and took a few more shots of Maddie in a much warmer environment for her 1st birthday portraits. Thank you Johnson Family, I had such a fun afternoon with you guys!

Loved this one, though it would be fun to look back on the photo years from now to see the height difference at 1 yr. old.

Still waiting on the Bluebonnets to begin blooming but will hopefully begin seeing the little beauties within a week or two. It’s been such a pleasure watching this little one grow up along with her 2 big sisters. Noelle just turned 1 on monday so she & mommy met me at the studio for a few quick photos to document the momentous day so here are a few sneak peeks for them……..

Pretty Girl

A few weeks ago I was asked to do headshots for a young girl who is interested in persuing acting & such and she needed some headshots for her portfolio. Her mom wanted them to be very relaxed & outdoorsy so I met them at their home and we had fun taking pretty photos in their backyard. I had NO idea she was going to wear pink and had just happened to bring along my trusty pink wooden chair and a pretty old quilt I scored recently at a local craft mall and they worked just perfectly for some of the shots! Of course I felt the need to emphasize her baby blues & lovely smile so I hope the photos bring her luck because she is sure a talented lovely girl, inside & out.

I’m also THRILLED to announce that I’m hoping to sign a lease on studio space this week so I will also be able to provide indoor studio natural light photography along with my usual on-location photography. The space is big & bright with 2 large windows and I can’t wait to move in and make it my own! I promise to post pics soon as soon as I’m able to so you can see it for yourself to keep checking back!

Hope that all of you had a wonderful, safe & blessed holiday season and are looking foward to the new year with as much anticipation as I am. We had a nice relaxing Christmas with my mom & brother here at the house. Everyone loved their gifts, candlelight church service on Christmas eve was lovely, got to hang with friends that evening, Christmas dinner turned out yummy and I spent nearly 2 days in my jammies so I’d say that’s an overall success! As much as I enjoy this time of year, for some reason when the hubby & my family headed out early on sunday morning I decided it was time to take all of the Christmas decor down when I normally am the gal who’s FINALLY taking her tree down in January. I don’t know……I just seemed to have the motivation & energy to do it so down it came. It took me two full days of working but it’s done and put away nicely all tucked away for next year which is a really good feeling. I don’t know if it was because this was our first Christmas without Dad or what, but I was just ready for it to be DONE and now I’m eagerly anticipating to see what 2010 will hold for me personally & professionally. If it’s anything like what 2009 was, it’ll be exciting for sure!

The next week or so I’ll be going back & posting sessions from ’09, the first of which is one I did with my pastor & his family back in August. They gave prints from their session as Christmas presents so I needed to keep their secret with them till now. We did the session at their river-side property which is so lovely. It was a warm summer day but they were troopers & did great and thankfully their print gifts were a hit!

We’ll be heading up to Dallas soon to cheer on Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl on the 2nd so if I don’t post again before then, I pray all of you have a safe & FUN New Years Eve! Adios 2009, you’ve been a year of extreme highs & the lowest of lows but all in all you were a good one so thank you.

Happy 1st day of December!! I don’t know about where you live but here in South Texas it definitely feels like it’s winter time now when just last week we were blessed with warm nice temps and my boys were outside playing in their shorts & t-shirts! Mother Nature sure likes to keep us on our toes here, that’s for sure. I have outdoor sessions planned this week but we shall see if the weather decides to cooperate with us or not? I sincerely hope it does because I’d love to get pics taken of everyone who wants them in time for the holidays and heaven knows we had NO idea the weather would turn like this so quickly but you know what they say about living in Texas, if you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes and it’ll change so I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Thankfully when I met with the Simmons family we were blessed with a truly gorgeous November morning and we spent it walking around Landa Park with their little ones. They were a referral from my dear friend Shawna (http://styleberryhome.com/) so thanks Girlie!

I always let the little ones play a bit before we jump in taking pics, things just seems to work better that way!
