‘Tis the season!!

We finally had a pretty sunny day a few days ago so I did something I’d not really done before…….I just walked around the house and took pics. I try to mix up my holiday decor and do things differently every year but I really liked the way my Christmas decor turned out last year and I really regretted not taking photos of the house because my memory stinks frankly and I couldn’t remember exactly what I’d done! Well, thankfully I won’t have that problem next year now that I have photos for posterity’s sake.

I have 5 Christmas trees in my house, is that just plain ridiculous??!

The Edge Performing Arts Center, Cibolo Texas

A couple of weeks ago, Shawn from The Edge called me up and told me he’d found my website and was looking for a local photographer to take come photos of his students so I was pleased to be able to help him out. We met in Cibolo on a rainy sunday afternoon and got the job done right before a downpour began thankfully! The kids were great and so much fun to work with and as a special treat I followed him back to the studio and got a tour of the new facilities which are SO great and I love it that such a state-of-the-art studio is right here in our neck of the woods in the Schertz/Cibolo area, what an awesome treat for local talent! A few of the images will hopefully be used on a holiday CD they are releasing which will be sold in the local Little Ceasars, awesome!

Also, just a friendly reminder for my holiday clients that all Christmas card & print orders that you need by Christmas need to be placed by the end of the month to ensure holiday delivery, thanks!

Just wanted to take some time to post some of my personal faves from my recent Holiday Mini-Sessions, thankfully the red chair was a big hit! (Thanks again Remey Family!!) Don’t know when I’ll attempt to do 7 sessions in one weekend again anytime soon but it was fun & well worth it.

My heart is bursting today with joy & thanks! Thanks to great clients and friends who helped behind the scenes, Holiday Mini-Session Weekend 2009 was a huge success!! We were all blessed with the prettiest weekend we’d had in many weeks so I was more than happy to spend the majority of mine outside taking photos. I appreciate those of you who used Brown-Eyed Girl Photography for the first time and especially value those of you who chose to use me again. To me that’s one of the biggest compliments clients can bestow upon photographers and please know that certainly means the world to me, it’s just exciting to me that I’ve been in business long enough now that there are families I’ve shot more than once! I look forward to going through all of the images and working on them over the coming days and will post sneak peeks along the way so keep checking back. Hope everyone had as much fun in the greenbelt this weekend as I did! Special thanks to the Remey family for allowing me to borrow their big red chair and to my hubby for bringing me a Rt.44 Sonic Dr. Pepper to keep my energy up through the afternoon yesterday!! Autumn Inspiration

I know that some of you out there are actually already getting snow right now while others are still basking in the warm temps of an Indian Summer. Here in San Antonio after enduring a sweltering summer with little to no rainfall we’ve been blessed with a bounty of rain and nice cool temps and I couldn’t be happier about that! My lawn & plants are so happy and we’ve already made pots of chili and vegetable soup, enjoyed many good football games and the velour tracksuits are back out and in full use again, yay! Today the boys are home from school for Columbus Day so I’ve decided to spend the day pulling out my Fall decorations out of the attic so we can enjoy them till Thanksgiving. I don’t go over the top but just add enough to lend a pretty golden/orange/brown flair to the house which blends nicely with my sage & cranberry decor. I’ll post some pics soon if you’d like but for now, enjoy this plethora of Autumn Inspiration I found over at flickr. If these gorgeous photos don’t get you in the mood for Fall, I don’t know what would.

Thank GOODNESS as of now it looks like the weather is going to be PERFECT for the mini-sessions coming up this weekend…….sunny & 75 degrees, yay! I still have that one spot open at 3:30pm on sunday if anyone wants it. I’m thrilled that my good friend Kristin will be joining me on sunday to help out, be a point of contact for clients who show up while I’m busy shooting, help w/posing, lend a helping hand w/the reflector when needed and keep the Starbucks flowin’ on a lovely sunday afternoon! I’m SO thrilled to have her there and know you will all love her too. Again, if you are scheduled for a mini-session I will be contacting you this week to confirm but if you want to go ahead and confirm now by leaving a comment that’d be great. 2009 Holiday Cards

For the first time I am offering clients custom Christmas cards this year at Brown-Eyed Girl Photography. Here’s how it works……if you’ve done a session w/me within the past year and would like to order cards, just let me know which image from your session you’d like to use on your card & what you’d like for it to say, it’s THAT easy! If you haven’t done a session with me yet but would like to order cards, I am currently offering mini-sessions which includes a 30 minute session and 25 Christmas cards for $150. The cards themselves will cost $40 for 25 cards or $75 for 50. The cards can be printed on standard, art or pearl paper and are printed by my professional printing company so they are of the highest standard. The cards will be 5×7″ in size and will be printed on one side so you can write a message on the reverse side if you wish and white envelopes are included. Here are your choices:

3. Green “Joy”

4. Red Tri-photo

5. Beige “Peace and Love”

6. White “Fa-la-la”

8. Beige circle photo

9. Linen “Peace”

I can customize the cards for by changing fonts, font colors and can also add a short sentiment or Bible scripture to personalize your card if you’d like! I will be accepting photo session bookings until November 22 but will be taking a much-needed break from Thanksgiving until New Years to spend time with my mom & family. Monday monday….. {Brown-Eyed Girl Photography}

Good monday morning to you, hope your’s is off to a great start and you’re sipping on some yummy coffee or tea while browsing blogs & the web. We had a busy but good weekend. Spent the better part of mine at the baseball fields in Boerne cheering on my 11 yr old and his teammates through 3 defeats which wasn’t easy however we were blessed with pretty weather so my summer tan was revived and we got a mega-dose of vitamin D while sitting outside for hours & hours. Hung w/some neighborhood friends saturday night (thanks Michele!) and cleaned my house like a crazed woman yesterday so all in all I’d say it was a nice productive couple of days. I promised I’d share Creed pics if I got any and unfortunately the only one I have is one provided to us by their fan club who ran the Meet & Greet we attended. Overall they ran the show pretty well and it was an awesome experience although it was over with all too quickly! We were right up front on the floor for the show smashed in the middle of hundreds of other folks but it’s always a fun & wild experience being so close to the “action”. Anyway, here we are with Creed before the show…….I was so giddy & excited (that’s me in the middle, the other girl is my friend, Deirdre), does it show? Lol.

I also want to tell you about something pretty darned cool. Maile Wilson of Relish Photography is a local photographer here in San Antonio (she’s the gal who took my bio pic above!) and she is launching something verrrrrrrry exciting! It’s been her dream for the past couple of years to come up with a fashionable & functional bag for photographers to carry their valuable equipment around in. We’ve all been there where you’re stuffing your camera & lenses down in your purse, wrapping it up in a t-shirt or anything else you can find to attempt to protect it because you don’t want to lug your big camera bag somewhere. Well, now you can have both…….a cute purse which is ALSO your camera bag! She made the big announcement yesterday and will be launching the website in a few weeks but for now, you can get the 411 here: http://dailyrelish.squarespace.com/ She showed us her prototype a while back which was awesome & I was SO excited that she’s making it big enough to carry everything in, even the bigger lenses such as the 70-200mm. Score!! Here they are…..

I’m off & running this monday morning trying to get “chores” done so I can hopefully sit & craft the rest of the day today & tomorrow. I have 2 weeks to get 3 swaps completed & sent for Silver Bella (http://www.teresamcfayden.typepad.com/silverbella/) and I haven’t even started on them yet so it’s time to get crackalackin on those!! Thankfully I kept my photography load light this week because of my birthday tomorrow (hint hint!!). I wanted to be able to take some time & relax and it’s been so long since I’ve allowed myself time to sit down & be creative with paper, glue, glitter, etc so I think some artsy time will be just the ticket for me. Here is one of the swaps I did last yr which was a big hit:

I temporarily lost my mind and signed up for 2 soldered charm swaps last yr and ended up having to make over 25 charms when I had never soldered before in my life! Talk about a quick crash course but it was just the motivation I needed to make myself sit & learn to finally do it. I found the strings of old rhinestones on an old gown at my local Goodwill store and just glued them on. This yr I’m only doing one charm swap along w/4 others. Yes, I have a problem saying no. Mini-session update

Hi all, hope your weekend is off to a great start. After a cool rainy soggy week we are blessed with a lovely warm sunny blue-skied day here in south TX and we will spending most of our’s at baseball fields watching our youngest play in a tournament. Please remind me to bring along sunscreen and an umbrella this time! I also wanted to pop in to announce that my holiday mini-sessions on sunday Oct. 18 are FULL. Thank you for the wonderful response!! Those of you who already booked will get $75 in free prints along with your 25 gorgeous Christmas cards. I do still have a few slots available on saturday the 17th so it’s not too late!
