I have several senior posts left to do but officially my senior season has ended for this Spring season and it ended on a very positive note. Despite having to reschedule her session and push it back a week due to rain, lo & behold it rained yet AGAIN on Denise’s photo session day however by the late afternoon we were blessed with a completely lovely sunny & even somewhat coolish evening. She wanted to shoot her senior pictures at the Japanese Tea Gardens here in San Antonio so we spent the evening climbing up & down the stairs & exploring the gardens which chatting & having a fun time with her sweet mama. Denise is graduating from Steele (GO Knights!!) and plans to study Radiology in Austin and I wish her the very best life has to offer. Enjoy your sneak peeks, Denise!!

Rebecca & I met up for her senior pictures on what shaped up to be THE warmest day of the year we’d had so far here in South Texas. Thankfully she fared far better than I with the heat because by looking at her pictures you’d NEVER know how sweltering it was that day. She brought her sweet grandmother with her who went in & out of the local shops to stay cool and during Becca’s wardrobe changes I’d start up my car to cool her off while she changed but as I said, by looking at her you’d NEVER know it! She was as cool as a cucumber as I had sweat dripping down my back, NOT pretty! Thank you for being such a trooper, Becca!!

I hadn’t met Monica nor her mother prior to the evening we met up to take her senior pictures however I had taken pictures for several of her friends at school & she took it upon herself to call & book me and I’m so glad she did. She’s such a mature poised young lady with a great sense of style and was so easy to work with and she made my job very very easy as you’ll be able to see. She would jump in the water, climb up onto anything and pretty much do any pose I asked her to do which is always fun! Enjoy your sneak peeks, Monica!!

Bluebonnet Bliss {Texas Landscape Photographer}

As most of you probably know, we experienced a HORRIBLE drought here in Texas last year. We had NO Spring wildflowers to speak of and our summer was simply hot dry & miserable and the dead brown landscape didn’t help to lighten spirits at all. As photographers we did what we could and sought out whatever somewhat green & pretty locations we could for our clients who still wanted pretty outdoor photos but it wasn’t easy, let me tell you! Thankfully Mother Nature had mercy on us this year and she blessed us with plenty of late Winter/early Spring rain showers which provided Texas with a blanket of beautiful various wildflowers. We have many native wildflowers in hues of red, yellow & purple but my very favorite are the lovely little Texas Bluebonnets. All around here you didn’t have to search very far for a nice patch of them to take photographs in thankfully and I SO enjoyed taking pictures for clients in the Bluebonnet fields until the weeds, allergens, bugs & even snakes began to take over and it was time to surrender and only enjoy their beauty from afar. Here are some of my favorite images from the season……

San Antonio Wedding Sneak Peeks!

My story with Tamanya is a unique one. You see, she lives in Philadelphia although she was raised here in San Antonio and her family is still here. She was going to be visiting her family here a while back and wanted family pictures taken while she and her sister were both in town and their family was all together. She took it upon herself to find a local photographer and make arrangements for a family photo session in Landa Park, thankfully she found me and I immediately liked them. Fast forward a year or so later and she contacted me from Philly again, this time to be her WEDDING photographer, her San Antonio wedding that is. She is also going to have another ceremony in Philly for her husband’s side of the family and I’m truly bummed that I can’t travel there and photograph that one for her as well! We met up here locally once prior to the wedding but other than that, all arrangements and such were made cross-country and she & her family did a great job of pulling things together. By the end of the evening I wanted her family to formally adopt me, such fun-loving gracious people!! Her mother had mariachis and dancers come to the ceremony to entertain the wedding party & guests and I enjoyed learning more about Hispanic wedding traditions. They wanted their day to be fun as well which I think you’ll be able to tell by some of the pictures below. Tamanya, thank you for asking me to be a small part of your special day. I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks & that your Philly ceremony is just as special.

Sneak Peeks for Selena!! {New Braunfels Senior Photography}

I met Selena’s sweet mama when she hired me last year to do a glam shoot for her so I was happy when she asked me to also shoot her daughter’s senior pictures. To me, having someone hire you not only once but twice is such a deep compliment, especially when that someone’s daughter is Selena. Sylvia had told me how pretty her daughter was but I just had no idea until we met up on a lovely warm afternoon in New Braunfels and the kicker is, she’s just as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of my seniors so far this Spring, I love hearing about their plans and where they see their futures headed. Best of luck with college, Selena…..I know you’ll do just wonderfully!

Matt’s mom and I have many friends in common so it only made sense that we became friends ourselves and I’m SO happy we did! She’s a concert-going fun loving Southern gal much like me and it’s fun just being around her so I knew it’d be awesome when she told me, “Matt really wants something different for his senior pictures so can we go downtown & go exploring?” Score! We didn’t really know where we were going or what we would find but many times those are THE best trips and thankfully we scored big time and found locations that worked perfectly for Matt & what he wanted! I’ve known John & his family for many years now since they live right down the street from us. It’s been fun watching the kids grow up over the years and turn into such wonderful young men & women (I took John’s sister’s senior pictures 2 years ago) and he has a younger brother who is the same age as my youngest. Both John & his younger brother are VERY talented Tennis players so I was hoping he’d agree to let me take some pictures of him at the school tennis courts, thankfully he said OK! Afterwards we walked around here locally and ran across a couple of fireman who were more than happy to pull their firetruck out of the station for us & jump in some pics which was fun. My business has been built from the ground up on referrals, I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, and Joe was no exception. I’d taken bluebonnet pictures for a friend of his mom’s and they referred me to them when the subject of Joe’s senior pictures came up and thankfully we were able to make it work. We met up on a warm afternoon and hit a few different locations to give them a nice variety of pictures. I really enjoy working with kids who know exactly who they are & what they want to look like in their pictures and this was Joe. He needed little direction and made my job VERY easy! Enjoy a few sneak peeks from your session…..

I will be accepting a few more senior clients this season but honestly I don’t have too many dates left so if you’re still needing pictures taken PLEASE contact me ASAP to see if we can find a date & time that works for the both of us. Thanks!!

Round Top Round-up & Blogger Luncheon

Twice a year the magic that is Antique Week comes to a teensy tiny town in Texas called Round Top, population 90, but during that week I’m sure it swells up into the hundreds. If you were passing through & blinked you’d almost miss it since the total land area of the town is only 1 square mile but in April & September there’s NO possible way you could miss all the excitement that is going on there!

Their quaint little fire station that I’m pretty sure hardly ever gets used…..

Nestled in the heart of this tiny town is one of funkiest fun little places you’ve ever seen called the Royers Round Top Cafe. Just visit their website & that will give you a tiny slice (pun intended!) of how cool this cafe is!

You’ve just gotta love small town America & any place that still uses the honor system!

A few weeks prior to Antique Week I was lucky enough to get an email inviting me to come to the cafe & attend the 2nd annual Bloggers Luncheon that was being held there and low & behold, Carol Hicks Bolton was going to be their speaker. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you might remember my blog post about her here. I had just met Carol a few weeks prior at her store in Fredericksburg when she hosted a fashion show for her dear friend, Robin of Magnolia Pearl, and I quickly adored her so I was excited about the chance to see her again and learn more about her as well as meet some fellow bloggers & new people!

Bud the Pie Man’s colorful throne!

There were pictures, papers, book pages, newspaper articles, old menus & ephemera all around, I could’ve spent hours in there reading it all……

Bud the Pie Man addressing the attendees & introducing Carol Bolton & Bill Winsor, CEO of Dallas Market Center, (the man in red) another one of our gracious hosts for the event who helped provide all 40+ attendees with a fun swag bag which included goodies from Junk Gypsies, Marburger Farm Antique Show and Dallas Market Center. Thanks Bill!! I had no idea about the market center & learned that it’s a wholesale market place that has permanent showrooms and product lines from every imaginable category of product. I’ve probably driven by it many times while in the Dallas area and now I look forward to visiting it someday.

The tables were all decorated uniquely, Michaela & her team from Dallas Market Center did such a great job hosting the event & making it so special & lovely for us and notice the vintage hankies waiting for us at each place setting. LOVE.

For lunch we were served Margherita pizza, a yummy spring salad, wonderful iced tea & Bud’s fabulous JUNKBERRY pie served a’la mode of course!

As we ate, Bud’s lovely wife, Dr. Karen Royer chatted with her long-time friend and asked her some questions about her life, her new store in Fredericksburg, TX, Laboratoire de Design, and her design philosophy which Carol called a “personal rebellion against modernism” which I just LOVED. She’s a lady after my own heart & such a sweet spirit plus she decorates & hangs things on her walls with masking tape, you just HAVE to love that! It was as if we were all watching 2 old friends chatting while completely alone in their home while sipping tea and I loved that.

Queen Carol temporarily takes over Bud’s throne to address the captive crowd. Don’t you just LOVE her dress?!!

Afterwards we hung out in the cafe for a while and mingled, chatted & networked with fellow bloggers & business women, grabbed a goodie bag from sweet Michaela, said our goodbyes.

Now THIS is my kind of outdoor seating…..

Next stop was Marburger Farm. I grabbed my antiquing partner in crime, Deirdre, and off we went to hunt for treasures……

Then it was on to Carol & Tim’s booth, Laboratoire de Design…..

…..and more Marburger fabulousness…..the French linens of Carola Pfau. Deirdre & I must always stop by her booth!

I really enjoyed Lauri Evan’s booth too…..I had NO idea burlap would look so cool if you washed & dried it! I must try that sometime.

What can I say, I have a thing for old trophies……

I’m not sure how to explain all the unique & random treasures that can be found under the massive tents on Marburger Farm. Between the 350 vendors you can find something to please pretty much every design philosophy & taste, it’s definitely a sight to behold!

The whole experience of traveling to Warrenton & Round Top is beyond words……between the booths, the shoppers, the vendors, the sights, sounds & yummy smells AND the lovely Texas Bluebonnets & wildflowers that adorned the fields & highways along the way this Spring I’m sure my words & pictures don’t do it all justice. You’ll just have to come visit us in Texas and take it all in for yourself! Till next time……
