Better late than never!

Ok, so it’s summertime and you’d think that’d mean MORE time to catch up on things and spend time on the computer but so far this summer seems to mean the opposite for me! However, it IS my goal to get caught up on posting pics from sessions, trips, etc. and I thought a good place to start would be with our family vacation to Mexico that we took in February (yes, February. I know, pathetic that I’m just now posting pics, right?!). The boys had never been on a cruise before and Texas is actually a pretty good place to live if you’re into cruises since we can just drive a few short hours to the coast and hop on board a ship so that’s what we did. We took a short Carnival cruise out of Galveston to Cozumel and although the cruise itself was very nice, it was sad to see the devistation that Cozumel endured at the hands of Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Very little of the island has been rebuilt although if you didn’t leave port then you might not even know that but since we couldn’t do our original water excursion because of high tides, we took a bus tour around the island and saw first-hand what a hurricane can do to a previously gorgeous tropical paradise.

The weather on our trip started out looking like this. NOT good, not good at all.

After a bumpy night at sea, thankfully we awoke to a lovely morning! (I was having a Titanic moment at the front of the ship taking this photo!)

We toured the ship and decided it was time to heard to the pool like everyone else since we were still out at sea….

We staked out our spots around the pool and soaked in some rays since it was still cool & rainy back home…..

…..and this is pretty much where I stayed for most of the day since it was cool & rainy back home.

The next day we headed into Cozumel for bus tour. Plenty to see but few beautiful photo ops unfortunately, I had to see beauty where I could find it. In a lone palm tree….

Even found beauty in a case of old Coca Cola bottles in a small village……

Even found beauty in this huge lizard who was sunbathing & quite camouflaged in this small Mexican village model….

And in a small local souvenir stand…….

And all too quickly our day was over and it was time to head back to the ship and back home to reality. *sigh*

Bye Carnival Ecstasy, we’re going to miss you and your 24 hr. pizza buffet!

Autumn Inspiration

I know that some of you out there are actually already getting snow right now while others are still basking in the warm temps of an Indian Summer. Here in San Antonio after enduring a sweltering summer with little to no rainfall we’ve been blessed with a bounty of rain and nice cool temps and I couldn’t be happier about that! My lawn & plants are so happy and we’ve already made pots of chili and vegetable soup, enjoyed many good football games and the velour tracksuits are back out and in full use again, yay! Today the boys are home from school for Columbus Day so I’ve decided to spend the day pulling out my Fall decorations out of the attic so we can enjoy them till Thanksgiving. I don’t go over the top but just add enough to lend a pretty golden/orange/brown flair to the house which blends nicely with my sage & cranberry decor. I’ll post some pics soon if you’d like but for now, enjoy this plethora of Autumn Inspiration I found over at flickr. If these gorgeous photos don’t get you in the mood for Fall, I don’t know what would.

Thank GOODNESS as of now it looks like the weather is going to be PERFECT for the mini-sessions coming up this weekend…….sunny & 75 degrees, yay! I still have that one spot open at 3:30pm on sunday if anyone wants it. I’m thrilled that my good friend Kristin will be joining me on sunday to help out, be a point of contact for clients who show up while I’m busy shooting, help w/posing, lend a helping hand w/the reflector when needed and keep the Starbucks flowin’ on a lovely sunday afternoon! I’m SO thrilled to have her there and know you will all love her too. Again, if you are scheduled for a mini-session I will be contacting you this week to confirm but if you want to go ahead and confirm now by leaving a comment that’d be great. Thanks for the positive feedback on the holiday cards too, I’ve already gotten some orders which is just awesome! Happy Fall Y’all!!!

Sneak Peek for Ryan & Peggy {Schertz engagement photography}

Let me paint the picture for you……..lovely country farm that’s been in the family since the early 1900s, rolling green pastures, dozens of cattle, tin buildings, hay bales, windmills & cool old rusty farm equipment everywhere you look all lit up by lovely late-September evening daylight. It was such a lovely serene setting for Ryan & Peggy’s family & engagement photo shoot and I felt right at home there. See, I was raised on a farm too so having to watch out for and step over a few cow patties in my flip-flops didn’t phase me a bit! Lol. We were blessed with dry cool temps and although it was a bit breezy we made it work and I just had the best time. Enjoy your sneak peeks, Guys, and thank you for the privilidge of being your photographer!

There’s just something about windmills that I love. I think I’ve found my new favorite place to shoot. Nevermind that someone actually lives on the property, think they’d mind if I brought some clients around every now & then??! Haha. It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago none of the lush green grass existed & everything was dry & desolate as we were in the midst of a major drought.
