Sneak Peek of Baby Luke {San Antonio family photographer}

The Simmons family have been great clients of mine for a couple of years now. This was our 4th session together and for this one I went to their beautiful home and shot some photos of their 7 month old son in the comfort of familiar surroundings. This is really the way to go when shooting infants! When he needed to nurse or be changed, we were right there where everything was handy & convenient which is really the way to go. We shot for about an hour till Daddy & the siblings returned home from the bookstore and it was time for me to be on my merry way which was more than enough time to grab some cute images of Baby Luke doing what he does best at 7 months……sit up, look cute, play & practice his pretend tummy swimming skills!

It truly is a small world and recently something happened that made me realize that even more than I already did. I have a friend, a really sweet friend, whom I feel as if I already know and have spent countless hours with but in reality, we’ve never met in real life. We found each other online and very quickly discovered all the various things we have in common and over the years we’ve track of one another via flickr, Facebook & our blogs. Our biggest similarity is that Margo lives in Stillwater, OK which is where I used to live & where I went to college at Oklahoma State. Margo is also a photographer & she goes to church with a sweet couple who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and were going to be coming here to San Antonio to celebrate with their son, daughter & their families and they wanted a photographer to come to the resort where they were staying to take family photographs for them during their visit. They asked Margo if she knew of any photographers in San Antonio and she was sweet enough to send them my way and I truly enjoyed my time with them on that muggy July morning……I wanted to stay and spend the weekend with them at the lovely Hyatt Hill Country resort too!!

I’ve never seen so many lovely blue eyes in one place before!

Dixon Family Sneak Peeks!! {Schertz Family Photographer}

My husband and I spent 20 years in the military and it never gets any easier…….you make friends with another military family, you think they rock & inevitably one of you moves away shortly thereafter and this is the case w/the Dixon family. They go to my church and I recently attended a Bible study there w/Lori. We were in the same small group so we spent quite a bit of time together but I never happened to mention my photography business to her during that time. We subsequently became Facebook friends and I’m pretty sure that’s where she found out about what I do and she says, “Why didn’t you tell me??! I’m wanting family photos taken before we move to Germany this summer!” and the rest is history. Her oldest son is staying here in San Antonio to continue attending college so family photos will be especially important to her I’m guessing, I know how much mine mean to me and all of my boys are still here together under my roof (for a few more months anyway!). Dixon Family, I thank you for trusting me with these precious memories and I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks from that warm Saturday morning we spent together……

Sweet Baby Sneak Peeks! {San Antonio Family Photographer}

I spent a part of my lovely cool saturday morning taking family photos with the Wier family and I enjoyed my time with them SO much! They were a referral to me by my friend Shawna, it’s always such an honor when my friends trust their clients & friends with me. I always enjoy it when clients invite me to their homes for family photos because to me it makes the photographs even more meaningful & special when you see familar beloved backgrounds in the images. We spent the morning roaming around the home & property finding fun spots to take photos of sweet 6 month old baby Finn with his mommy & daddy. Thank GOODNESS for his grandparents & aunt who were also there to help me out in getting Finn’s attention & making him smile, they were troopers & such a blessing!! He was a happy baby all morning and such a little trooper for us…….enjoy your sneak peeks, Wier family!

I will MIA for a short while……I’m leaving on Thursday for a short trip to NYC. I’ve never been there before so I’m really excited to have my friend, Danielle, show me around so I can soak in all the sights & sounds of the Big Apple and take a bajillion photos!

Meet the White Family! {Cibolo Family Photographer}

I really enjoyed my time with the White Family. We met on some beautiful property in the Texas Hill Country close to Canyon Lake on a breezy friday evening for some family portraits. I was met by a cheerful nice man named Randy who proceeded to show me around his property & home and my mind immediately began racing with ideas & love for the scenery there. His land is such a fabulous place for his grandson, Randy Jr, to spend time and grow up (you can see in the first photo how dry things are around here since we’ve had no rain since February). They told me stories about how Randy Jr’s birthday is around Halloween so every year they hold his birthday party at his grandpa’s land where they have hay rides and all sorts of fun things set up and then Grandpa takes the boys to the back of the property to tell them stories. I just love stories & photo shoots like this. I love it that the land we shot on holds memories for this family, memories already gone and more wonderful memories to be made and I loved being there. Wedding Sneak Peeks for Tiffany & Joel {Brown-Eyed Girl Photography}

I’ve been blessed to call Tiffany for many years now. Thinking back on it, I can’t even remember exactly when we met…….it just seems that as long as I’ve lived in this area she’s been my friend. It might’ve been through scrapbooking because wayyyyyyy back in the day we used to get together & scrap at her house or perhaps it was through baseball back when her oldest & my oldest played ball together? (Tiff, perhaps you can refresh my memory on this!) Regardless, we’ve managed to stay in touch through the years and meet up every now & then over coffee and catch up on things and I’m happy that we did. She was one of my first friends who allowed me to take photos of her adorable family and use them in my marketing materials back when I was starting my photography business and for that I was very grateful but then, Tiffany is just that sort of sweet friend, so when she asked me if I’d photograph her wedding day there was no way I’d ever say no. I was honored to be there and be part of her very special day all the while smiling & thinking how happy I am that God brought Joel into her life. She was a single mom to her 4 precious kids for many years being the only one to get them to school, band practice, sports practices, etc. and now her family is complete and I couldn’t be happier for her. I was secretly hoping she’d also ask me to come along with them on their honeymoon to Spain as their photographer but alas, that didn’t happen!! Congrats Tiffany & Joel, I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks! XOXO

Oh baby baby! {Schertz Maternity Photographer}

It’s always a special honor when a fellow photographer asks me to take photos for them & this was the case with Autumn. She’s beginning her own photography business here locally and asked if I’d take maternity pics for her since she’d never had them done before and this little peanut is her baby #5. We met up at the studio and spent a fun morning taking photos for her, here are just a few of my faves. Enjoy your sneak peeks Autumn & Matt!

I’m still truckin’ on with my Project 52 photos as well. The theme for week 3 was “Shades of Grey” so I snapped this shot of me at my studio before taking Autumn’s photos. I was looking out the window of my studio at the pavement and wall of the building across the street from mine on a grey gloomy day……thought it fit the theme well and I guess others did too because it was chosen as one of their Top 10 on the MCP Blog. I was so honored to have been noticed out of the hundreds of photos that are submitted! Here it is……

First off, a huge heartfelt THANKS to all of my holiday mini-session clients from this past weekend!! Thanks for hanging in there and being so flexible with the rescheduling of your sessions because of the weather. Thankfully it all worked out for the best & we were blessed with lovely warm weather & lovely light all weekend, yay! I appreciate & value each & every one of you and I thank you for trusting me with your family portraits. Over the next few days I’ll be posting some sneak peeks from those sessions and first up is my lovely talented scrapbooking friend, Erin Terrell Clarkson, and her lovely daughter Daisy. I’ve been a huge fan of scrabooking since I first heard about it back in 1995 when my 2nd son was born and over the years I’ve managed to collect quite a few scrapbooking magazines, attend conventions, classes and things and if you’ve opened up an issue of Creating Keepsakes or Scrapbooks Etc. magazine within the past several years then you most likely know who Erin is. We’ve literally watched her daughter Daisy grow up in the magazines & idea books through Erin’s scrapbook pages & projects so it was a royal treat for me to be able to photograph her just days after turing 13! Thank you, Erin, for asking me to take photos for you…….I’m already looking forward to our next coffee date!

Long-time Friends {Garden Ridge Family Photographer}

After spending 20+ years in the Air Force, moving around every 3 yrs ending up no where near our hometowns, it’s rare that you end up living near long-time friends but somehow certain things in life just end up coming around full circle. Gayla and I grew up in the same area of Oklahoma but went to different high schools, are a few years apart in age and didn’t know each other until our future husbands introduced us to each other. She began dating Bob who was in the midst of Pilot Training at Vance AFB in Enid, OK with my future husband, Steve. Bob & Gayla met first then Steve and I met a short while later. I think we hung out a few times together as couples at parties and such before the guys graduated from Pilot Training however they took a much quicker course to marital bliss than Steve and I. We attended their Enid wedding before they both headed off to Florida where Bob flew F-15s while Steve stayed put at Vance to become an Instructor Pilot in the T-38s which enabled us to take things a bit slower since he was going to be living in my hometown for a few more years. Over the guys’ military careers we weren’t stationed together again till both eventually ended up here in San Antonio at Randolph AFB which is where we all decided to plant roots and stay put for a while. It’s been SO nice having them here because Gayla is a rock star hair stylist and has been my exclusive hair dresser for years and years now, I can’t imagine going to anyone else! A while back Gayla asked if I’d take family portraits for them since she was wanting a canvas to hang in their new lovely home so we met in Gruene on a lovely morning to take pictures. I was shocked when we arrived to find the little town still half-asleep and mostly empty so we took full advantage of that until it quickly filled up with tourists and hungry folks heading to the Gristmill for lunch. Here are some of the results…….aren’t they a beautiful family!!

Saturday Morning Session Sneak Peeks! {Schertz Family Photographer}

We were supposed to have nasty weather this weekend, or at least that’s what Mr. Weatherman said anyway. Nasty as in rain & chilly temps in the low 50s which might sound downright tropical to some of you right now but for those of us from South Texas whose blood has turned thin, that’s Brrrrrrrrrrrr weather to us! Of COURSE this was the weekend of my annual holiday mini-sessions so I figured clients wouldn’t want to be out in the chilly rain any more than I would so I decided to be pro-active and reschedule the sessions to next weekend all with the exception of one that I’d had scheduled with the Boney family for quite a while on saturday morning. It was a tiny bit chilly that morning but otherwise glorious as you’ll see in the pics so I’m SO happy we decided to go forward with the session. I got such a kick out of watching their adorable 19 month old son romp & roam around the property, picking up sticks & rocks, jamming out to tunes on Daddy’s phone and exploring on railroad tracks for the very first time. It brought me back in time to the days I had toddler boys obsessed with all things train related, roaming around my house with their Thomas the Tank Engine trains clutched in their little fists but I digress………thank you Boney family for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family!
