….two teenagers in the house & one pre-teen, another new pending driver in the family, a new pet dog, lots of time alone with the boys while the hubby is away working so hardly for us & missing us terribly, our first family trip out of the country, many hours spent at the ballfield, another year with Brown-Eyed Girl under my belt & my first year with a studio space, lessons learned the hard way, figuring what to let go of & what to grasp firmly onto & learning to let go and let God. Goodbye 2010!
Onto a new year with new goals & high hopes!! I’m SO happy you stopped in to see what’s going on here at Brown-Eyed Girl Photography. I have a lot of exciting things on tap for this year including a few changes to keep things fresh & new for both you & me too. 🙂 I’m currently working with a great girl who is helping me revamp my blog, making some fun changes to it, so hopefully I’ll be able to debut that here within the next few weeks or when we get everything pulled together. It’ll be fun to have something fresh & new for the brand new year! I’m also going to be reworking my photo sessions & price packaging a bit since the holiday mini-sessions & boudoir sessions were such a huge hit. I’m going to be offering the mini-sessions year round now with the option of getting the images on CD for those of you who enjoy that option. I’ll officially announce here first when those changes have permanently been made so keep checking back so you’re the FIRST to know. Also, January will be the last month that I’ll be leasing my studio in New Braunfels. It’s been a quick & wonderful year that I’ve had that space to ulilize for indoor shooting but after much consideration I’ve decided not to re-new the lease. The majority of my sessions are still requested & done on-location outdoors or at client’s homes so although I certainly enjoyed having an indoor space of my own to use & provide for my clients, going foward into 2011 I’m putting my focus back into on-location shoots. I loved shooting boudoir sessions at the studio and going forward what I intend to do is host quarterly boudoir sessions at a lovely local hotel so I can provide those beautiful sexy images for Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc. in a private pretty location. I’ll announce all boudoir sessions so you’ll have a few weeks notice and have plenty of time to gather your girlfriends & cute outfits and come have a blast!
After gentle nudging from several friend & fellow photographers, I’ve decided to join an online photography project called Project 52 where we’re given a weekly theme for our photograph and then we’re given the week to take & share our photograph with others. I noticed that in 2010 I was so wrapped up with my photography business & client photos that I rarely took time to stop and take fun frivolous photos just for me & my creativity so this project will give me a fun reason to do just that and I thank my friends for inviting me to do this with them: Casey of Phreckleface Photography, Michele of Michele Reed Photography & Shawna of StyleberryBLOG.com. Here are my photos from the first 2 weeks. The Week 1 theme was “Around the House” so I photographed one of my very favorite things in my bedroom, a burlap covered small dress form which holds some of my favorite jewelry pieces. The focal necklace reads “Live Life Inspired” which is my motto for 2011. (necklace by Beth Quinn)
The Week 2 theme was “Illustrate a Song” so of COURSE I had to choose a song from my favorite band, Duran Duran, and I chose a more obscure song of their’s called “Beautiful Colours” to illustrate since I’d just purchased these lovely colorful beads and thought they’d make a lovely photograph. Plus….I just really love the lyrics to the song…..
Today, riding this lone train along the way,
Going to who knows where and who knows when.
Not knowing where you’re rolling is the learning of this journey.
I feel all you good people gather and believe.
Being the flesh and breathing is enough,
For us to carry on from each moment to the next one
These beautiful colors, infinite patterns are what I see.
And though we’re all the same stuff,
There’s not one of you who is the same as me.
World of beautiful colors, in different patterns for you to see.
Sometimes the beauty of it all seems unbearable ’til the colors bleed.
I hope you’ll continue to stop in and check out my weekly Project 52 photos as well as the latest news & happenings here at Brown-Eyed Girl, check out some of my favorite client photos and take time to comment or say hello when you feel led to do so. I’d LOVE to hear from you!! Happy Twenty-Eleven to you! XOXO
